Pennzoil Place, completed in 1975, was designed by Philip Johnson and John Burgee as a pair of twin towers with distinctive angled tops, a departure from the flat-roofed skyscraper conventions of the day. The trapezoidal massing became one of downtown Houston's most recognizable skyline forms.
