Hughes County Courthouse

The Hughes County Courthouse on Capitol Avenue in Pierre is the seat of government for Hughes County, South Dakota. Built from 1934 to 1935 by architects Hugill & Blatherwick, it replaced an 1883 courthouse. The design pairs Depression-era Moderne restraint with Art Deco flourishes, a pairing common to courthouses of the period, and the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 10, 1993.
