Lane Technical College Prep High School was founded in 1908 and dedicated on Washington's Birthday in 1909, named for Albert G. Lane, a former Chicago Public Schools principal and superintendent. Dwight H. Perkins designed the building in the Chicago School style. Located in the Roscoe Village neighborhood, Lane Tech is a selective-enrollment magnet school within Chicago Public Schools.

the style

The building was designed in the Chicago School style, an idiom developed in the same city for commercial towers, applied here to a large public high school.
