The New Hampshire State House is the oldest U.S. state capitol in which the legislature still meets in its original chambers, completed in 1819. It's built of granite and topped by a gilded eagle, a landmark whose continuous use for legislative business sets it apart from nearly every other statehouse in the country.

Gov. Frank West Rollins House

Andrews, Jaques & Rantoul

Built in 1890 at 135 North State Street for Frank West Rollins, a politician who went on to become governor of New Hampshire, this house was designed by the Boston firm Andrews, Jaques & Rantoul. It's considered one of the most elaborate local examples of Shingle style architecture and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
