50 West Street is a 64-story, 778-foot mixed-use residential and retail condominium tower in the Financial District, developed by Time Equities Inc. and completed in 2016. It contains 191 residential units and was designed by architect Helmut Jahn, known for works including the Messeturm in Frankfurt, CitySpire, the Park Avenue Tower, and 425 Lexington Avenue.

the building

Curved glass tower. The tower of curved glass is designed to provide panoramic views of New York Harbor, using about 3,000 glass panels weighing up to 1,900 pounds each, framed by aluminum and braced by stainless steel panels made in Italy.

Sustainable systems. To pursue a Gold LEED rating, the building includes a green roof, water-efficient plumbing fixtures, automated blinds, and energy control systems.

the style

Jahn designed the tower in a Postmodern idiom expressed through its curved glass facade, part of a body of work that includes the Messeturm in Frankfurt and CitySpire in Manhattan.
