Glen Hurst, at 4933 MacArthur Boulevard NW in the Palisades, was designed by Richard Ough in 1892 and built by John C. Hurst -- one of only five original houses built in the neighborhood. It survives as an example of the Queen Anne style that shaped the Palisades' earliest development.
the building
One of the original five. Glen Hurst is one of the five houses that made up the Palisades' original development, making it a rare physical link to the neighborhood's founding moment.
the style
Queen Anne (c. 1875–1905): The exuberant Victorian: corner turrets, wraparound porches, spindle trim, and a different texture on every story.
