The Allan Miller House at 7121 South Paxton Avenue was designed in 1913 by John S. Van Bergen for advertising executive Allan Miller. It is the only surviving Chicago building by Van Bergen, a colleague of Frank Lloyd Wright, and it remains a well-regarded example of the horizontal, prairie-evoking massing that defines the Prairie style.

the style

Like all Prairie style houses, the Miller House is built low and horizontal to evoke the flat Midwestern prairie and to integrate with its surrounding landscape.
