The Ravenswood is an Art Deco apartment building at 570 North Rossmore Avenue in Hancock Park, designed by Max Maltzman and built by Paramount Pictures in 1930, just five blocks from the studio's lot on Melrose Avenue. Mae West lived in the penthouse from the building's opening until her death in 1980, and her investment in the property reportedly saved its owners from bankruptcy, a rescue that overturned their original plan to bar her boyfriend, boxer William "Gorilla" Jones, from entering. The building was designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 2003.
