Second Church of Christ, Scientist, at 948 West Adams Boulevard in the West Adams district, was built in 1910 to a design by noted Los Angeles architect Alfred H. Rosenheim for the Christian Science congregation. The city designated it a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 1968, and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Sold in 2009, it reopened in 2010 as the Art of Living Center Los Angeles, a community and meditation venue.

the style

Rosenheim designed the church in a monumental Classical Revival style — also described as Greek Revival — giving the West Adams building the columned, temple-like presence typical of early-20th-century Christian Science churches.
