Designed by architect Charles F. Plummer and completed in 1924, the Young's Market Company Building rose at 1610 West 7th Street at South Union Avenue in Westlake as a retail market and office building in the Renaissance Revival style. It was renovated into 44 live-work lofts in 1997.

the building

Market to lofts. The commercial block was converted in 1997 from its original retail-market and office use into 44 live-work loft residences, adapting a Renaissance Revival commercial building to residential life.

the style

Its Renaissance Revival styling marked it as a notable commercial example of the style applied to an early-20th-century market and office building.
