The Continental Bank Building is a 50-story Art Deco skyscraper at 30 Broad Street, next to the New York Stock Exchange, designed by Cross & Cross and announced in 1929 to house the Continental Bank and Trust Company and various brokers. It replaced the 15-story Johnston Building on a site once owned by the Dutch Reformed Church, which had built the city's second almshouse there before 1659. Estimated to cost $20 million, it was the largest single cooperative building venture undertaken up to that time.
