Built between 1909 and 1916 by the architectural and engineering firm Ballinger & Perrot, this building operated as Building 17 of the RCA Victor Company's Camden plant, a Victrola cabinet factory for the company that had made Camden its headquarters since 1901. It takes its popular name, the Nipper Building, from "His Master's Voice," Francis Barraud's painting of his brother's dog listening to a gramophone, which became the trademark of both the Gramophone Company and the Victor Talking Machine Company after 1901.
