The house at 6 Kent Court is one of the oldest buildings in Somerville, a Georgian-style house built in 1750. It was likely moved to its current site from Somerville Avenue around the turn of the 20th century, a common fate for colonial-era houses as the city redeveloped around them. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
the building
A steep gambrel roof. The house's age is legible in its steeply pitched gambrel roof, an early colonial form, along with a typical lean-to addition tacked onto the rear.
the style
Georgian (c. 1714–1830): Disciplined brick symmetry: sash windows in even rows, a paneled door with a fan shaped window above, and quiet classical trim.
