Built in 1845 on Kirkland Street near Harvard Square for the Old Cambridge Baptist Church congregation, this Greek Revival meetinghouse was designed by local architect Isaac Melvin. Sold in 1866 to the North Avenue Congregational Society and moved up Massachusetts Avenue in 1867, it later became Lesley University's John and Carol Moriarty Library, part of the Lunder Arts Center.

the building

A building on the move. The church changed hands and names repeatedly - Old Cambridge Baptist Church, then North Avenue Congregational Church, then Prospect Hall - and was physically relocated up Massachusetts Avenue in 1867 before Lesley University bought it in 2006 and converted it into a library in 2015.

the style

Greek Revival, in keeping with the mid-1840s date of a New England meetinghouse built for a Baptist congregation.
