The Century is a 42-story, 481-foot condominium tower in Century City, completed in 2009 by Robert A.M. Stern Architects and developed by Related Companies on the former site of the St. Regis Los Angeles hotel. Its 140 units range from a $1.8 million one-bedroom to a $47 million penthouse, making it one of the priciest addresses on the Westside.
the building
Spelling's record penthouse. On July 22, 2008, Candy Spelling, widow of television producer Aaron Spelling, bought the building's penthouse spanning its top two floors, about 16,500 square feet, setting a price-per-square-foot record for a Los Angeles condominium; she later sued the developers over construction delays.
A second record sale. Two floors below Spelling's unit, a full-floor, 9,343-square-foot penthouse sold in 2015 for $22.5 million, another record for the building.
the style
Robert A.M. Stern, winner of the 2011 Driehaus Prize, designed The Century in a postmodern idiom, giving the 42-story tower a more traditionally massed, ornamented profile than the glass boxes that otherwise define Century City's skyline.
