The Pierpont Morgan Library and its 1924 annex sit at 225 Madison Avenue, designed in part by Charles Follen McKim as an addition to J. P. Morgan's private library. Morgan built the original library between 1902 and 1906 to house his collections; his son made the institution public in 1924 per his father's will, and further expansions followed in 1928, 1962, and 1991.
