Urban Glass House is a condominium building designed by Philip Johnson, completed in 2006 as Johnson's final project — he did not live to see construction finished. Its interiors were designed by Annabelle Selldorf, and its name references Johnson's earlier Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut, though the two buildings bear little resemblance.

the building

A changed design. The building was originally commissioned by developer Antonio Vendome as an asymmetrical structure of multi-colored bricks that avoided right angles and stood twenty stories tall — a plan referred to as a "living sculpture." Zoning restrictions forced that scheme to be abandoned, and Vendome later withdrew from the project.

the style

The building works in a Modern idiom, taking its name and gestures from Johnson's own Glass House, though the urban version departs sharply from that original.
