Built in 1890 by developer and Boston merchant Louville Niles, this Somerville house was one of the last built during the main development phase of the Prospect Hill neighborhood. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

the building

Massing and porch. The 2.5-story wood-frame house has a roughly rectangular plan broken by projecting sections and gables, a decorative chimney top, and a front porch with a shed roof set on spindlework and turned posts.

the style

The house's projecting bays, varied gables, and spindlework porch place it in the Queen Anne idiom common to Prospect Hill's late development.
