The Home of the Good Shepherd, now known as the Good Shepherd Center, was built in 1906 as a Catholic school for wayward girls and operated as such until 1973. The Neoclassical building sits within Meridian Playground in Wallingford and is now run by Historic Seattle.

the building

Chapel turned performance space. The former chapel, spanning the center of the top two floors, has been converted into a performance venue that hosts the experimental Wayward Music Series.

Orchard and garden grounds. The school's original apple orchard and gardens largely survive on the site; its old swimming pool has been filled in and turned into a garden, and the bath house is now a picnic shelter.

the style

The Good Shepherd Center's Neoclassical facade reflects its origins as a formal institutional building rather than a private residence.
