Raitt Hall on the University of Washington campus was completed in 1916 by the campus firm Bebb and Gould, working in the Jacobethan style. Bebb and Gould shaped much of the university's early 20th-century core, and Raitt Hall's Jacobethan facade is part of that unified campus look.

the style

Jacobethan detailing — a blend of Jacobean and Elizabethan English motifs — gives Raitt Hall's facade the look common to Bebb and Gould's UW buildings of this period, visible clearly from the street.

the architect

Bebb and Gould was the prolific firm behind much of the University of Washington's early campus architecture; Raitt Hall, completed in 1916, is one of their contributions to that plan.
