Roslindale Congregational Church, at 25 Cummins Highway, was built in 1893-96 in a shingle-Romanesque style for a congregation founded in 1890 by Rev. William Grover. It was designed by James Murray, believed to have been a member of the congregation himself, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

the building

Richardsonian massing. The church has the monumental scale typical of Richardsonian Romanesque work, anchored by a tower topped with a pyramidal roof and corner turrets.

the style

The church blends the shingle style with Romanesque Revival forms, giving a congregation only three years old the heavy, monumental massing associated with Richardsonian work of the period.
